Continuing to present the material from The Unspeakable's discotheque, there's a group of musicians from the Netherlands called Poppi UK. Specifically we bring to light their first LP "Walk On The Water" released under their own (we suppose) label Poppi Disk in 1984. Too bad, we couldn't find much about them on the web except their own discography through www.discogs.com, where they are labeled as new wave and art rock band. Once listening to them we realized that they are indeed a new wave group with plenty of experimental elements in their music. They also sound very capable and experienced musicians, as they improvise and create songs quite easily, these songs however look so complicated and difficult to follow, unless one is in the mood. The excellent and intuitive bass lines and turns - we dare to say - bring to mind German kraut rock bands or NDW bands too. All of their compositions are rich in styles and effects as well. In addition, the vocals have that sarcastic tone and irony reminiscent of the masters of experimental new wave music Pere Ubu. Finally, titles and lyrics as well tend to be pessimistic which eventually dissolves into sarcasm. We believe that "Walk on the Water" should be brought up because it is a very interesting LP to listen to, and should never be un-noticed especially by the fans of experimental new wave. Here it is, enjoy!!!!
